THE LAURA SULTAN® Digital transparency — mentoring, training and policy

Policy work

Small sellers are the people these systems act on, and the people least represented when the rules get written. I work to change that.

I write and give evidence on platform accountability and seller protections, drawing on what happened to my own business rather than on theory. That work has taken me to Queen’s Park to speak with MPPs as part of the Better Way Alliance’s Meet the Business Owners series, and into federal consultation on marketplace conduct.

The argument is narrow and practical. A seller who builds a business on a platform should be told when a decision is made about them, given a reason that means something, and offered a route to appeal it. None of that requires access to proprietary systems. It requires disclosure.
